Competitions

University of Portsmouth Vs. University of Southampton Varsity

On the First weekend that the dropzone reopens, the 17-18th March, Netheravon will once again host the 2012 varsity competition between us and Southampton uni. The competition will consist of 3 or 4 way FS and accuracy, with the catagories student and A cert and above. Anyone will be able to enter the accuracy competition, even if you've only done one jump. The accuracy event will run concurrently with the student and A licence accuracy competition already planned for this weekend. Scores from this competition will be used for both competitions. For the FS competition, the minimum requirement will be FS1. I'll need to know definite numbers for the FS comp at least a week in advance, so that a final descision can be made on 3 or 4 way (this will depend on numbers) and gives both unis time to put people into teams. Eligability to score points will be the same as the BCPA comp requirements, so either a current student or under 4 years from the date of your graduation. More details to follow.

Student or A licence skydivers who want to take part in the accuracy comp will need to complete the form on the link below. full details about the event are included here:

Everyone who is interested in competing in any part of the comp, please post here with which parts you'd like to compete in, so I can get a rough idea of how many people we have for each event. Further details will be posted here:

BCPA Monthly Draw September 2011

The year has finally started and September is the first month of the BCPA League!

The league caters for both 3-way Formation Skydiving and 2-way Freefly competitions. There is a central set of 3-way formations, of which 3 are selected each month. It is up to teams to complete as many of these formations as possible

The clock starts from the second the first person leaves the aircraft and stops 35 seconds later. Each completed formation scores one point and it's up to the team and their cameraman to work together to ensure those points are visible to the judges.

At the end of the month each entry is ranked and given competition points. Every member of the team will earn 1 x those points for their University. Going forward we hope to enter at least one All Portsmouth team every month, preferably more.

Septembers draw was as follows:

Here's our attempt which is provisionally ranked 1st out of this month's submitted entries.

UKSL Round 2 - Langar

Simon Owen, ex-President of the University of Portsmouth Skydive with his team RAFSPA HurricaneCongratulations to our ex-President, Simon Owen and his team RAFSPA Hurricane, for their 1st place result in the UKSL meet at Langar this weekend.

RAFSPA Hurricane scored 37 points over 5 rounds (7.4 point average) to place them ahead of 6 other teams in the Rookie category. This is the second gold medal the team has achieved in this year's UKSL so good luck to them for the 3rd meet at Skydive Hibaldstow in July.
