Weekend Reports

Weekend Report 8-10 April 2011

Weekend reports are something we have got out of the habit of writing. They are a great way for us to keep the club up to date with what's been going on so here's the first of many reports this summer!

This weekend was the nicest weekend of the year so far with temperatures peaking at 21 degrees and skies so blue that we thought we were abroad. Madeleine, Steve and I travelled down on Friday evening and arrived in time for me to get in a cheeky wingsuit flight as the sun began to set. Off to the bar via pizza hut!

Saturday morning started at 0800 with Steve and Madders on their first and second dummy pulls respectively. The wind was a little high for students throughout the day so the students chilled out while I packed parachutes. At 1800 the winds dropped and Madders and Steve got a couple of jumps in. I joined them both on the second lift where Madeleine attempted her third and potentially final dummy pull. After a nervous debrief her instructor cleared her for her first freefall! I'll update this post later in the week with the video...

On Sunday Steve, who is not one to be beaten, completed his third dummy pull and was also cleared for freefall. Never has the dropzone seen such a smiley man! A couple of nerve wrecking 4-second delays later and both Madeleine and Steve had joined the exclusive freefall club. Congratulations to another two club members who are getting closer to losing their horrendous orange jump suits!

I ended my day with a 8-way wingsuit formation attempt that went pretty well despite me missing my slot.

Until next weekend...
